1. What are my chances of playing baseball for the upcoming season?
The Savannah Adult Baseball League is always looking new players to create new teams and/or fill out the rosters of our current teams. If you are interested in joining the league, we encourage you to fill out our New Player Interest Form as soon as possible.
From there, your chances of joining a team are greatly improved if you are prompt in responding to league officials and team managers who are making an effort to reach out to you.
2. When can I expect to hear something about playing baseball after I submit the New Player Interest Form?
All prospective players submitting a New Player Interest Form will be contacted by a league representative within 2-3 business days. If this does not occur, please contact the President, Secretary, and/or your prospective League Commissioner to inquire about the status of your request.
Teams typically begin forming in January to provide enough time to get players registered, order uniforms/equipment, and arrange team practices.
All new players searching for a team will be entered into the Free Agent Draft Pool and receive invitation to an upcoming new player workout where they can meet other players, league representatives, and team managers before being placed on an existing roster.
Teams with open roster spots and/or personnel needs will be given preference in drafting new players to ensure fairness and improve competitiveness across the league.
3. How much does it cost to join the Savannah Adult Baseball League?
Regular season registration fees typically range from $150-$250/player (roughly $10/game), but this does not include the costs associated with uniforms or equipment
Fall season registration fees typically range from $100-$150/player (roughly $10/game), but this does not include the costs associated with uniforms or equipment
Players choosing to play in multiple divisions and those joining after the season has begun are typically eligible to receive a discount on associated registration fees.
Once fees have been paid, there are no refunds.
4. When does the baseball season start and end?
Regular season games begin the Sunday after the Super Bowl and conclude in August.
Fall season games begin the Sunday after Labor Day and conclude in mid November.
5. Who conducts practice and where is practice conducted?
Teams set up their own practice schedule. Teams are responsible for finding their own practice locations whether it be indoor or outdoor. A permit must be filed to use a county baseball field. Teams are encouraged to establish a relationship with a local high school baseball coach to use their field and offer assistance to the high school coach and baseball teams by working to keep field playable or making a donation of equipment or funds and volunteering to help out where needed.
6. How many baseball games are played in a season?
Typically, there are 15-20 regular season games played (depending upon the cooperation of weather) followed by a post-season play-off.
Fall season typically consists of 10 games with a post-season play-off.
7. What days of the week are baseball games played?
Games are usually played on Sunday, with one game played during the week. Although this is subject to field availability, typically the 18+ Division will play on either Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday nights and the 30+ Division on Friday nights.
Games are not played on St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, or July 4th.
8. Where are the baseball games played?
