Today was opening day for the fall season. It was a tale of two stories as well. In the early games there were two blowouts:-The Knights took on the newcomer Outlaws. The Knights started off slow not getting anything going in the first two innings. But then in the 3rd inning they broke it open winning 10-0-The Savannah Spartans Baseball Club beat the Kingfish pretty handedly. They did not score in the first inning, but had an 11 run second inning carrying them to a 19-2 win. The late games were a lot closer, one run games:-Little Luckys BC got out to an early 2-0 lead over the Savannah Steamers Baseball Club but the Steamers clawed back a run, but L.L. answered back with another run in the bottom of the 3rd. Steamers made it interesting tying it up in the final inning but a HBP followed by a triple doomed the Steamers. -Thrashers and Angels both put up 2 runs in the first inning. Thrashers added 2 more in the 3rd behind some HBPs and walks making it 4-2. Angels added 1 more but it was not enough. Thrashers won 4-3. ... See MoreSee Less

Congratulations to the 30+ Braves on their championship win. They finished off the 30+ league with a three-peat. They took the Knights down 1-0. It was one of the best championship games that the SABL has seen in a long time in any of its leagues. Brenden Orrel for the Braves and Isaac Hess of the Knights were both dealing in different ways. Brenden was able to hold the Knights to 4 hits with only having 2 strikeouts and 2 walks showing how tough the Braves defense is. Isaac held the Braves to only 3 hits and had 16 strikeouts with 2 walks. It was one of the fastest games of the year with both teams threatening throughout the game. The first and only run didn't come until the top of the 7th inning. Wesley Wilkes (running for Brenden) scored from second base off an error on the Knights infield. The Braves did not give me a MVP for the game but I am going to go ahead and nominate Brendan as the MVP with him throwing a complete game and getting on base everytime. Thank you to all the 30+ teams and coaches for a great season. It was one of the most competitive seasons the league has seen in a while.
